Our new cost-free digital library for English-language ebooks and audiobooks.
What you need:
- Valid library card (using OverDrive is cost-free)
- Internet access
- Tablet, smartphone or notebook/PC
What?
- English-language ebooks (novels, children’s books and books for adolescents)
- English-language audiobooks (novels, children’s books and books for adolescents as audiobooks)
How?
- On your mobile devices: use the „Libby“ app
- On your PC or notebook: use Libby via this website or use the OverDrive web portal of City Library Halle
- Transferring media to your e-reader: download media on your notebook/PC as EPUB or PDF files and transfer them to your
e-reader (only supported e-readers) with Adobe Digital Editions:
- Borrow and download ebooks directly on your e-reader: e. g. with Tolino
- First steps in the Libby app: select Stadtbibliothek Halle and login with your library card number and password
- Find titles in the Libby app: use the Search function (magnifier icon) or browse City Library’s various thematic collections (house icon)
- Renewing your loans and placing holds on borrowed titles is free of charge
- After the loan period has expired (renewals are possible), the media file becomes unusable
Loan periods:
- ebooks – up to 21 days
- audiobooks – up to 14 days
Libby app first steps:
- Search the „Libby“ app in your app store and install it on your device (system requirements: from iOS 10 and from Android 5.0)
- Open the Libby app and search for "Stadtbibliothek Halle"
- Login with your library card number and password
- Search our OverDrive collection (magnifier icon) or browse the thematic collections (house icon) and borrow the titles you like
- Your borrowed titles show up in your shelf (book pile icon) and are downloaded automatically when your device has a Wi-Fi connection – now you can also read and listen to your media offline
- Use 'Manage Loan' in the shelf menu to renew the loan period of your borrowed media or return your borrowed media
- Your borrowed titles are returned automatically when the loan period is over
- Find the help pages of the app in the menu (3-stripes icon)
